  • improve listening skills through interactive poetry
  • learn new words and sounds
  • have a 'live' experience of a performance poet
  • learn about rhyming, non-rhyming and rhythm
  • have fun with poetry and words.

Poetry styles

Depending on age and ability, these traditional or original poetry styles may be used: interactive, blank verse, alliterative, repetitive, rhyming/non-rhyming, epitaphs, limericks, step, simile, metaphor, personification, thin, rap, group poems and more.
