Benefits

CCCP Workshops are ideal for literacy booster sessions (one-off or series), National Poetry Day, book weeks, World Book Day, Black History Month, activity weeks/enrichment days and transition projects.  You can also book me for a performance incorporating a 'Meet the Poet' Q&A session or to run a poetry slam/writing and performance competition.

Regular classes, G&T, EAL, SEN, hard to engage, low confidence students etc will:
  • improve literacy skills, creativity, self-expression, self-esteem and confidence through writing and performing their own poetry
  • have fun with words and language through my accessible style and approach
  • develop poetry styles and structures
  • have a 'live' experience of performance poet
  • learn transferable presentation and communication skills.

Poetry styles and themes

Depending on age and ability, I may use these original or established poetry styles: thin, blank verse, repetitive, step, stair, rap, recipe, interactive, rhyming/non-rhyming poems etc.

I will also encourage participants to use a range of `language tools' when writing their poems to develop literacy skills e.g. metaphors, similes, alliteration, onomatopoeia, adjectives, adverbs, synonyms, personification, senses etc.

My workshop themes cover a wide range of fun and serious topics and I have over 40 different ones for you to chose from e.g. Olympics/sport/football, Superheroes & Supervillains, War & Peace, Emotions, Food, Dreams & Nightmares, London, If..., Music, the Moon Landing, Black History Heroes, Animals, Insects, Self-Identity, Respect, The Elements, My Home/Street, Relationships, Colours, Weather and many more. I will also tailor-make a workshop for you at no extra cost.

Presentation skills seminars

I also run fun presentation skills seminars using the medium of performance poetry. They are suitable for students involved in class presentations, debating, talks on assemblies, job and university interviews etc.
