Primary Schools

Benefits
CCCP Workshops are ideal for literacy booster sessions (series), National Poetry Day, National Children’s Book Week, World Book Day, school literacy/book weeks, activities weeks, 'Meet the Poet' Q&A sessions etc. Regular classes, G&T, EAL, SEN, hard to engage, low confidence pupils etc will:

  • improve creativity, literacy skills, self-expression, self-esteem and confidence through writing and reading aloud/performing their own poetry
  • gain an understanding of poetry styles and structures
  • improve listening skills through interactive poetry
  • learn new words and sounds
  • have a 'live' experience of a performance poet
  • learn about rhyming, non-rhyming and rhythm
  • have fun with poetry and words.

Poetry styles
Depending on age and ability, these traditional or original poetry styles may be used: interactive, blank verse, acrostic, nonsense, alliterative, repetitive, rhyming/non-rhyming, epitaphs, limericks, step, simile, metaphor, personification, thin, shape/concrete, rap, recipe and group poems. These will cover a wide range of fun and serious themes of my or your choosing. I also run fun football poetry workshops for boy and girls.
